Queen without a King

(With apologies to both Led Zeppelin and Stevie Nicks)
Last week, I did the hardest thing I have ever done, but also the most necessary.  For seven years Builder has treated me as an indentured servant and housepet.  When he has a bad day, he takes it out on me.  Last week, I left him.  Now, as I prepare to navigate the world on my own and rebuild my life, I am dealing with orders of protection, custody petitions, family court, attorneys, and wondering if I will stay in Brooklyn or if my journey will take me elsewhere.  I may not post too frequently, but I am still thinking about my blog community.

  2. I've been a lurker for quite a while; I enjoy reading your point of view. But I wanted to come out of lurking to tell you to stay strong! It's a difficult decision you've made, and I just wanted you to know that you have the support and well wishes of your anonymous readers out here!

  4. I know we don't know each other, but I want to say mazel tov on having the strength to do this, and I'm so sorry about all the yuckiness of the situation.

  5. Hashem should send you the strength you need for yourself and your daughters in this time of transition. Be safe and push forward no matter what comes. You are clearly a strong and amazing woman and mother who wants the best for her little family. Please keep us posted when you can and reach out for help wherever you can find it. You will be in my thoughts.

  7. AQ - I'm sorry that you have to go through this, but I'm glad to hear that you are getting a better life for yourself. You and your daughters deserve it. You've got my private email from the LJF J101 panel, email me if you ever need to rant, talk, or get picked up from the Mpls/St. Paul, MN airport.

Take care of yourself, be kind and patient with yourself and your girls. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

    Hilary

  8. Stay strong. The process of separation can be like leaving Egypt - you know that you are leaving bondage, but it can be scary to leave the security of what you have known. Know that what you are doing is necessary, stay true to yourself and your values, and protect your kids and allow them to experience genuine shalom bayit.
